On Monday, Marriott International and MGM Resorts International, in partnership with Marriott Bonvoy, released the MGM Collection.
The long-term strategic licensing agreement covers 17 MGM-owned domestic properties, including properties on the Las Vegas Strip as well as its branded regional casino hotels. Beginning in October, several Marriott Bonvoy properties at the MGM Collection will be available for booking on Marriott.com and the Marriott Bonvoy mobile app. All MGM venues are expected to be open for reservations on these platforms by the end of the year.
News broke less than a week ago that Hyatt and MGM were about to end their partnership on Sept. 30. MGM already has a strong relationship with Marriott, which is a partner of the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, which it acquired last year.
For lovers of Marriott and MGM points, this is very important.
Both business and leisure travelers love to accumulate points of all kinds, whether it’s frequent flyer miles, hotel points, or casino status points and credits.
Marriott and MGM are currently capitalizing on this theme, and it makes sense that both companies are behind the largest loyalty programs in the hotel and gaming space. MGM’s loyalty program, called MGMRewards, has more than 40 million members, while Marriott’s Bonvoy program has more than 180 million members.
Under the terms of the license agreement, MGM Rewards members have the right to link their account with Marriott Bonvoy to receive select membership benefits. Marriott Bonvoy participants, on the other hand, can accumulate and redeem points at all participating MGM properties.
“Following the merger of 17 MGM resorts and Marriott Bonvoy, four of these properties will become part of the existing Marriott brand: Bellagio Resort & Casino will be part of The Luxury Collection, Aria Resort & Casino will be part of Autograph Collection, Park MGM will become part of Tribute Portfolio, and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas will remain part of Autograph Collection,” the announcement said.
Vdara Hotel & Spa, MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, NoMadLasVegas, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, New York-New York Hotel & Casino, Luxor Hotel eland Casino and Excalibur Hotel & Casino will join Marriott Bonvoy’s MGM Collection.
BetMGM has casinos in different regions.
Five area casino hotels, namely the Borgata, Beau Rivage, Miss. MGM Grand, MGM National Harbor and MGM Springfield, will be part of the MGM Collection by Marriott Bonvoy. These hotels are located in various parts of the United States, including Atlantic City, New Jersey, Biloxi, Detroit, Maryland and Massachusetts.
Marriott and MGM also officially announced that they will be launching BetMGM as Marriott Bonvoy’s hotel loyalty program as an exclusive partner.
As the U.S. sports betting market grows, companies that operate sportsbooks and land-based casinos have linked traditional rewards programs to sports betting as a way to entice punters to land-based gaming venues.
